Rockies Fans

I read the article in the Denver post by the Denver post entitled Rockies fans accused of jumping on police car. It was about 3 men who jumped on a police car and did about 3500 dollars worth in damages. This made me feel that sports are too much of some people’s lives and they need to step back and look at what they are doing because of their team doing something amazing. Their team does something good and productive and they feel the need to go out and destroy something. It doesn’t make any sense and I don’t think that this would make any sense to any one else. The men could go to jail for six years of convicted witch I think is a long time for something like this but they shouldn’t get off for free. I think that instead of having them go to jail they should have community service, fines, and be put on probation.

Did You Know

I watched the movie that Mr. Fisch made called Did You Know on the Fischbowl it was about the physical education courses being cut down in many schools around the country. It also brought up the fact that since this has started more and more kids are becoming diabetic and obese. This made me think of all of the kids who are getting obese and how people blame the schools when they don’t realize that the parents are the ones to blame because they are the ones that are letting their children sit at home playing video games and watching TV. The parents are the ones who don’t make their kids get the exercise they need to be healthy. They think that it is the schools responsibility to give their children the exercise they need and the school shouldn’t have to waste money on things that aren’t educational. People also blame the video games, TV and food too when it really is only the people who let this happen who are to blame.

Witness Intimidation

I read an article by Mike McPhee of the Denver Post titled lawyer arrested on witness intimidation charge. This article was about a defense lawyer who was arrested for intimidating a 16 year old witness. This really made me wonder about the people who people look up to. If we think that these people are upstanding citizens but they pull this kind of stuff then who can children really trust. It also brings up the question of how many other people has this happened to that never let anyone know because they were afraid of what might happen if they told. If this happened to me I wouldn’t know what to do so I ask you put yourself in the shoes of that 16 year old girl and think about what you would do.

The article written by Karl Fisch titled two steps forward… was a very interesting topic and important addition to our school. The article was about the new wireless network put into the school last summer. The system would allow any wireless device capable of accessing the internet use the schools internet. This means that the students who own laptop computers, handhelds and other internet capable devices can access the internet. This will be very helpful to the students. If you have ever needed to go to the library to work on a computer it is nearly impossible to find a free computer. This will help both students with and without the wireless devices. It will help the students who don’t own the devices to be able to find a computer more easily. The students who own the devices will also be able to use the computer when they need and they will have the freedom to use the computer almost anywhere on the campus. This does have downsides though such as there is no access available to students for Google video or youtube.
